The 20th German Packaging Congress

At the invitation of the German Packaging Institute (dvi), leading representatives, decision-makers and visionaries from the entire packaging value chain met at the conference on 20 March 2025. More than 220 participants discussed the future of packaging in twelve specialist presentations from the fields of politics and finance, strategy and innovation for the industry and companies.

The motto of the event in Berlin was ‘Challenge accepted! Mastering crises and utilising opportunities.’. Moderator Katie Gallus welcomed the participants in the packed hall with the words ‘Making is done together. And muscles are built through training. It's the same with networking. The German Packaging Congress is the perfect training ground.’ Twelve specialist presentations and keynote speeches from the worlds of business, politics and finance provided food, impetus and inspiration for networking. They provided plenty of additional topics for discussion during the breaks and at the evening event until midnight.

The newly elected member of the Bundestag Caroline Bosbach provided the introduction. The head of the Young Economic Council of the CDU found the right words with her honest manner and opened the congress with a clear positioning that pointed out structural challenges without losing optimism for the German economy.

Oliver Berndt, Head of Events & Marketing at the dvi, summarised: “With dynamically increasing regulatory challenges, growing demands for sustainability and a commitment to a good future for generations to come, our industry is faced with a series of complex decisions. This also applies with regard to the economic and macroeconomic challenges or the disruptive forces of digitalisation and artificial intelligence. But complexity is also a breeding ground for new opportunities, as one participant put it in a nutshell. That's exactly what the congress was about.“

The dvi would like to thank its premium partner Fachpack and its partners Mitsubishi Electric, Mondi and Klöckner Pentaplast for their valuable support, “without which the congress would not have been possible in this form and with this output,“ says Oliver Berndt. The next German Packaging Congress is scheduled for 19 March 2026 in Berlin.
