Graphics and text now printable on larger food products

DTM Print’s Eddie food printer prints photos, logos, designs and text directly onto the surface of confectionery and bakery products. Thanks to the new Eddie platform extension, this is now also possible for even larger food products such as donuts, jumbo marshmallows, bars, bagels or mini cakes with a height of up to 50.8 mm. The new platform is also compatible with DTM Print’s acrylic inserts, known as DTM Trays, which the OEM and solutions provider for special printing systems has been producing specifically for Eddie since spring 2021.

With the carousel system included, the machine prints a dozen 89 mm biscuits or other similar sized confectionery in just 2 min, making printing on pastries, sweets, white chocolate and marshmallows quick and easy. The carousel rotates the biscuits into the printing position, the feed mechanism feeds them in one at a time, then they are printed and placed back on the carousel – all automatically. To print larger food items such as donuts, the carousel system must be removed and the platform extension installed instead. Each print object is then manually placed on the platform.

The printer is supplied with a carousel system consisting of a base and carousel plate. With the carousel, Eddie can accommodate up to twelve objects with a diameter of 63.5 to 110 mm and a maximum height of 19 mm. For printing larger, specially shaped confectionery or multiple items in one pass, the manual feed option in combination with the DTM trays extends the maximum width to 120 mm and the height to 27 mm. The third option is to use the new platform extension for items with a maximum height of 50.8 mm and a width of up to 114 mm.
