Bühler focuses on sustainable, low-emission solutions

Climate change and geopolitical conflicts let the industry moan once more and raise the eminent need for alternatives to fossil fuels. Knowing that the energy transition is no path without obstacles for food producers Bühler decided to tackle this challenge.

Accordingly, Bühler will present at interpack 2023 future-minded solutions like electric and low-emission alternatives of wafer baking ovens to lower or eliminate CO2 emissions – well observing the value-chain and the development of sustainable energy solutions.

The Franz Haas Swakt-Eco wafer baking ovens are premium systems for the fully automatic industrial production of flat and hollow wafers. Due to innovative burners which allow for the full insulation of the baking zone, they use heat in the baking process more efficiently. The ovens are designed to reduce gas consumption by up to 30 %, and noxious emissions can be reduced by up to 90 %.

The heating system can be easily adjusted via the oven’s PLC. This enables adjustments during operation, this optimizes heat distribution and minimizes downtime. Precise adjustments not only ensure high wafer sheet quality with consistent weight and moisture distribution but also an overall efficient production.

However, energy transition is a topic that needs a holistic approach, and Bühler pays attention to identifying potential in the industry. The company is committed to having solutions ready by 2025 at the latest that will reduce energy, waste and water by 50 % in its customers’ value chains.

Yet, modern energy solutions and alternatives have also a direct impact on profitability and autonomy from global crisis. Therefore, the company includes “powering the future of food” in its vision of the future of food.
