DLG places focus on reformulation


ProSweets Cologne 2019 will, once again, be offering the professional audience numerous highlights in its programme of events. The “Ingredients – Reformulation for Sweets and Snacks” special show organized by DLG (German Agricultural Society), for instance, will be dealing with a topic that is the subject of broad debate in current discussion concerning nutrition.

At this attractive platform, companies from the ingredients industry will be presenting promising strategies for substituting and reducing sugar, fat and salt in sweets and snacks. Focus will also be placed on technologies for reducing salt, fat and sugar as well as global reduction strategies.

Visitors to the trade fair will also be provided with a compact and informative overview of innovations dealing with reformulation during the guided trade fair tours offered by DLG. These hour-long guided tours in English will take visitors over the “Ingredients – Reformulation for Sweets and Snacks” special show area and also directly to the trade fair stands of exhibitors ­offering particularly innovative products and projects that deal with the topic.

In the “Speakers Corner” (image), speakers will be highlighting further aspects of the mentioned main topic “Reformulation” and providing information about current market and product developments as well as consumer expectations on optimized products. The objective is to provide the food industry with compact background information that supports it in selecting the appropriate sensory and food technology adaptation measures. In their specialist presentations in the “Speakers Corner”, other ProSweets Cologne partners will be focussing on the topics of snacks, packaging and recycling as well as ingredients and food legislation aspects.
