Metsä Board invests in expansion of pulp production

The carton specialist Metsä Board, a Metsä Group company, has invested in a second packaging line at the Kaskinen/Finland site. Together with the already implemented process and quality changes, this investment will increase the capacity of the bleached chemical-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) production facility and increase consistency of quality and production reliability. The line recently went into operation. The investment value is EUR 6 m.

The investment is expected to increase the company's annual capacity by another 30,000 t to 370,000 t to meet growing demand. Metsä Board will use the BCTMP produced in Kaskinen for both carton board production and as market pulp. High quality BCTMP plays an important role in the manufacture of cartonboard, for example, to increase the lightweight. Metsä Board Kaskinen is one of the largest and most modern BCTMP production plants in the world.

In addition, Metsä Board has started to build a new cutting line in his paperboard plant in Äänekoski/Finland. The investment worth EUR 11 m is intended to increase the annual cutting capacity at the site.
