There was plenty going on at Fachpack 2025 in Nuremberg

Around 37,000 trade visitors, one in three of whom came from abroad, took the opportunity to find out about the latest trends and innovations at the stands of 1,455 exhibitors and to discuss pressing packaging issues with experts, according to figures from the organiser in Nuremberg. This year's main theme, "Transition in Packaging", struck exactly the right chord.

Most foreign visitors came from Austria, Czechia and Italy. As Powtech, the international trade fair for mechanical, thermal and analytical processes for processing materials, was held in parallel in the Franconian metropolis, the total number of visitors climbed to over 72,000. The main topics were sustainability and digitalisation in the packaging industry, innovative machine concepts, packaging materials and aids, and EU legal requirements. Visitors were able to find out about sustainable solutions for the industry and talk to exhibitors about the "Transition in Packaging".

During the three days of the trade fair, the community exchanged ideas on trends and innovations and discussed important issues relating to the circular economy, regulations, automation, digitalisation, and AI. The atmosphere in the halls was consistently good. "The quality of the trade visitors was excellent. It is this special hands-on mentality that characterises the industry and plays into the hands of Fachpack's motto: We are shaping the future together," said Phuong Anh Do, Director of Fachpack at NürnbergMesse GmbH, summarising the mood in the halls.

Once again, Fachpack presented a diverse range of solutions and innovations relating to packaging, packaging technology and processes. The Exhibition Centre Nuremberg became a meeting place for trade visitors from all over Europe. The international share of guests was 37 per cent. Visitors came mainly from key industries such as food and feed, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and medicine, cosmetics, retail, automotive, electrical and electronics, non-food, logistics, and packaging.

The day before the trade fair began, Futury GmbH, in collaboration with Fachpack and EIT Food, brought together around 100 leading players from the European packaging start-up scene for the first time at the FuturePack Summit. Young founders presented their ideas for the packaging world of tomorrow from sustainable materials and digital tools to new business models. Visitors also found unconventional ideas and products for solving packaging issues at the BMWK-sponsored "Young Innovators" joint stand and at the "Newcomer Pavilion" for first-time exhibitors or international newcomers to the industry.

In addition, there was Student Day on the third day of the fair and the Women4Packaging network meeting with 200 women on the first day of the fair. As is tradition, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) used the trade fair to hold the German Packaging Award ceremony, as did the World Packaging Organisation, which presented companies in Nuremberg with the Green Packaging Star Award.

The next Fachpack will take place in Nuremberg from 21 to 23 September 2027. In the coming interpack year, Fachpack, Packaging Valley and Hüthig Medien will jointly host the Packaging Machinery Conference at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre on 16 and 17 June 2026. Under the motto "Innovation meets Strategy", the new industry platform will bring together leading minds and companies in packaging machinery engineering to discuss the future of packaging technologies from AI and regulations to best practices and new markets.
