Cycle optimizer facilitates material conveyance

Wouldn’t it be great to convey more material with easier operation and save energy costs at the same time? The latest version of Piab’s premium conveyor series aims to make this possible. The semi-automated piFlowp Smart CCO conveyor made of acid-resistant stainless steel is designed to meet the needs of continuous production. It enables material to be picked up from a sack unloading station, for example, or directly from a drum by means of a conveyor pipe.

Fewer cycles are required to convey a specific product for packaging, sieving, grinding or dosing. The system optimizes the process by maximizing the utilization of the plant capacity with each new conveying cycle. Thanks to its dual-sensor solution, it utilizes the entire conveyed batch volume in each cycle. Only one parameter, that of the false air valve, needs to be set by the operator. All other settings are automatically adjusted accordingly.

The upper sensor measures the volume in the conveyor and interrupts the conveying process as soon as it reaches the maximum filling level. The lower sensor closes the bottom flap as soon as the conveyor is empty. This results in an immediate restart of the operation. The upper sensor also acts as an overfill protection. By switching off the conveying cycle before the product reaches the filter, filter breakage is virtually prevented. This reduces downtime and spare parts costs.

During emptying of the vacuum conveyor, a blast of compressed air cleans the filter. This contributes to a long filter life. Depending on the product being conveyed, the system can be set to perform one to five filter blasts. At the same time, the sensor heads are cleaned with pulses of compressed air until the sensors are switched off.
