Confectionery efficiently coded

Reliability and responsiveness: two qualities that appealed to French confectionery manufacturer Gida when it contacted Linx France for a batch coding solution.

Family-owned business Gida, located in Wittenheim in the Haut-Rhin region of France, is a specialist in custom confectionery. Since 1960, it has been producing dragees, fancy meringues, marshmallows and acacia gum-based lozenges made according to customers’ specifications. The products are based on natural flavours and colours, fruit
juices and concentrates, essential oils and organic raw materials. They are distributed in France and abroad.

Some time ago, Gida was plagued by technical difficulties with its printing equipment. “The confectioner worked with an ink cartridge system that did not give it complete satisfaction,” confirms Christophe Calet, Linx France Technical Sales Manager. “As the client needed to find a solution quickly, we lent him a machine while waiting for him to receive the one that was ordered“.

Gida prints mainly “Use before” dates on metal and plastic boxes and cartons. After carefully identifying the needs of the company, Christophe Calet chose the Linx 8900 model, a particularly reliable and easy-to-use inkjet printer. He explains: “The contactless marking system makes it possible to print on packaging of different shapes. In addition, the inkjet offers the possibility of coding from top to bottom, bottom to top or side, which makes the Linx 8900 a much more flexible solution.”

According to the manufacturer, the Linx 8900 is distinguished by its very simple interface and accessible to all with its large touch screen. “It’s easy to control and the messages can be changed quickly,” assures Christophe Calet. The 10" high-resolution colour touch screen provides simple and error-free operation and can store multiple line settings for fast and easy setup. The Linx 8900’s self-cleaning printhead and IP55 stainless steel enclosure facilitate continual, reliable running with minimum intervention, important factors for Gida when
selecting their batch coder.

Confectionery Gida uses its Linx 8900 on three different lines, depending on the need for marking. “The solution is autonomous and fits easily onto our lines,” confims Laurent
Deybach, Managing Director of Gida. “Its ease of use and ergonomics mean that it can be used by our operators regardless of their level of training. Finally, it is reliable and relatively economical”. Arguments that make sense for companies always looking for more efficiency and performance.
