ENFIT: kick-off for the Taskforce

The official kick-off meeting of the ENFIT Taskforce “Zero Risk in Raw Material Transport” took place on May 21, 2025 and unites the industry with Lindt & Sprüngli and Mondelez at one table. Over 100 participants from food production, logistics, cleaning, certification, and standardisation came together to discuss key risks in the supply chain and how these can be mitigated through clear guidelines, validated procedures, and harmonised standards.

Lindt & Sprüngli, represented by Adam Nemeth, and Mondelez International, represented by Cristina Samaniego both responsible for European quality management in their companies have clearly committed to extending responsibility beyond factory gates. Together with ENFIT, they aim to establish binding guidelines that no longer treat transport, cleaning, and logistics as blind spots in food safety.

“We need traceable standards, validated processes, and stronger cooperation between industry, logistics, and cleaning,” emphasised Cristina Samaniego. Adam Nemeth added, “Without hygienically safe transport, there can be no safe products. That is still too often underestimated.”
The taskforce focuses on:
• conducting the ENFIT THR (Transport Hygiene Risk) Analysis,
• introducing standardised food-grade suitability inspections for transport containers (DIN 10502-1 based on ENFIT criteria),
• digitalising transport containers with verifiable cleaning certificates via blockchain (bulkvision),
• certifying and training personnel in QA, procurement, logistics, loading, unloading, and cleaning according to the ENFIT training standard,
• implementing and validating the international ENFIT cleaning programs,
• synchronising Food Defense systems between production, logistics, and cleaning sites,
• and enabling fair compensation for certified services to secure quality economically.

Another critical issue is the lack of synchronisation in Food Defense measures across production, transport, logistics, and cleaning stations. This creates vulnerabilities potential entry points for intentional contamination, sabotage, or manipulation. The taskforce aims to close these gaps and establish consistent protection along the entire chain.

Rabbi P. A. Meiers of the Hager Kashrut Committee also delivered a strong statement: “Among all organisations active in transport and cleaning, I know only one that works with such professionalism and standardisation and that is ENFIT. Working with ENFIT means choosing quality and safety.”

ENFIT President Hans-Dieter Philipowski concluded, “The taskforce brings together companies that previously acted in isolation. Now we are building transparency, safety, and trust across the entire supply chain.”

The initiative is open to additional partners. Interested companies can request the video recording of the kick-off and all participation documents.
