Bagmaker with ultrasound sealing

Ishida has announced the launch of its first ultrasound bagmaker for standard snack packaging films this spring. The Atlas 203-USS model reduces costs and is environmentally friendly due to it being possible to make significant film and energy consumption-related savings. The Atlas 203-USS bagmaker seals packaging with ultrasonic technology.

Molecules in the film are activated by sound waves and the resulting heat together with the pressure from the seal clamps seals the bag. This method generally reduces the width of the seam at the end seal from 10mm to 3mm, the back seal being reduced from 13mm to 6mm, resulting in 11% less foil being required. The sealing takes place from the inside out, the result being a stronger and more homogeneous seal. The ultrasonic technology also results in a 40% reduction in energy consumption levels when compared with conventional systems.

Ishida supplies the Atlas 203-USS bagmaker in versions with one or two filling tubes with a top speed of 140 bags per minute and tube. The sealing operation and time can be easily inputted on the touch screen, providing for the creation of the right seals for many film types. The machine is also available with optional, integrated iTPS software which supports linked operation with multihead weighers, metal detectors, printers, seal testers and checkweighers to maximise line efficiency.
