GNT publishes its Sustainability report 2025
“As a family-owned company, we think long term, ensuring we will always be able to deliver high-quality EXBERRY® colors that allow our customers to create more natural, eco-friendly products,” said Dr. Hendrik Hoeck, CEO, GNT Group.
While great for business, the rising demand for natural colors did put new pressure on supply chains throughout the industry. The introduction of tariffs in the U.S. made life more difficult for many in the ingredient business as well. However, thanks to our long-term planning, resilient supply chain, and the commitment of our team, we have been able to navigate these challenges with minimal issues.
Throughout it all, we have maintained our rigorous sustainability standards – and we were delighted to be awarded a Platinum medal for our sustainability performance by EcoVadis. With improvements in areas including resource use, ethics, and risk management, their overall score has increased to 86 out of 100, ranking us among the top 1% of companies in the food manufacturing industry. GNT also committed to the United Nations Global Compact in 2025, aligning with its standards on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
The commitment to the highest sustainability standards remains undiminished, and as the company grows and the broader landscape shifts, GNT have taken action to make sure our targets reflect the times.
GNT carried out a new double materiality assessment to assess our priorities in 2025. It was developed with inputs from internal and external stakeholders, including some of the world’s leading food and beverage brands. Several of their most important material topics remain unchanged, such as climate change adaptation, human rights and working conditions, and the circular economy. Others material topics are new, including water management on fields, data security, and diversity, equity & inclusion.
Based on the new analysis, GNT has updated the targets they set out in 2021 to make sure GNT meet the moment and cement their role as the leader on sustainability in the food coloring industry. GNT will be concentrating on responsible and reliable growth, placing a special emphasis on resilient supply chains in these uncertain times.
The details of their updated plans can be found in this report along with information about the progress they made last year. There were many successes across their environmental initiatives and beyond, but there are areas for improvement, too. One of these is accidents at their factories in 2025, and GNT is taking strong and decisive action to address this. This report provides insights into all the work they are doing to enhance our operations.

About Us
International confectionery association SWEETS GLOBAL NETWORK e. V. (SG) is an established network of over 300 member companies based in ten countries. SG is the leading communication platform for confectionery professionals in German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and beyond. Meanwhile, most companies involved in manufacturing and retailing confectionery (wholesalers, specialist retailers, importers, brokers, producers) are members. All enjoy huge benefits, such as a range of high quality services and invitations to exclusive, member only events. There are an additional 40 supporting members active in the confectionery industry supply sector.
The International Sweets Business Forum in Berlin has taken SG well beyond the traditional territory of conventional training seminars and workshops. Social events, such as the New Year Reception in Munich or the ISM WARM UP held on the eve of the ISM in Cologne now rank as must-attend fixtures in the confectionery business year.
While acknowledging the growing significance of the global information and knowledge community, SG never loses sight of what’s going on at a local level. Articles in SG-Magazin and sweets processing, the SG-Newsletter (several times a week), annual publication of the SG-Directory and worldwide contacts bear witness to the pronounced internationality of the association.
